Sir Jim Ratcliffe makes decision on Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United future

Erik ten Hag is set to remain as Manchester United boss after Sir Jim Ratcliffe takes a minority stake in the club.

While the Americans will remain majority owners, Ratcliffe will take control of football operations following the minority takeover.

He wants to focus on the performance side of the club, and there are question marks over Ten Hag following a dismal start to the season.

United have lost six of their first 11 matches in all competitions, and they’re already outsiders to finish in the top four.

But Ratcliffe admires the job that Ten Hag has done at Old Trafford so far, and feels the injury crisis at the club has had a huge bearing on results this term.

As well as the injuries, Ten Hag has had to contend with off-field issues with Mason Greenwood, Jadon Sancho and the takeover itself.

There’s less clarity over the futures of John Murtough and Richard Arnold.

Ratcliffe met the pair when he was given a tour of Old Trafford and Carrington.

The billionaire is likely to want to bring his own team in at the club, such will be the focus on performance.
