The INEOS owner is expected to land a 25% share in the club after rival bidder rival Sheikh Jassim pulled out of the running for a buy-out.

And The Guardian say Ratcliffe has told United of his concerns over their spending tactics in recent years.

It’s claimed the childhood Red Devils’ fan was particularly alarmed by the huge fee and wages involved in Casemiro‘s arrival from Real Madrid.

United paid £60million for the Brazil anchorman, now 31, in August 2022.

And the 73-cap star is on a four-year deal worth around £350,000 a week.

Ratcliffe is said to have told United his clear fears when he visited the club’s Carrington training base to hear a presentation in March.

The Mancunian, 70, explained his doubts over certain buys.

The Guardian even suggest his blunt views could threaten the future of chief executive Richard Arnold and football director John Murtough – if Ratcliffe gets a sizeable minority share in the Red Devils.

United’s board are due to vote on the entrepreneur’s offer for a quarter of the club on Thursday.

atcliffe’s INEOS company have already invested heavily in Formula One – via a third share of the Mercedes team – plus cycling, rugby and sailing.

He also owns French football team Nice ad Swiss side Laussane.
