Close-up of the 18m-long blue whale carcass washed up on the coast of Africa for the first time.

The blue whale was identified 18.2 meters long, is an Antarctic blue whale. This creature’s carcass washed ashore in Namibia, 8,000km from its natural habitat.

Experts believe that the blue whale was injured before it died, possibly due to a collision with a boat.

The first blue whale carcass washed up on the coast of Africa.

Conservationist Simon Elwen of the Namibian Dolphin Project (NPD), said: This is the first time we have recorded a case of Antarctic blue whales drifting off the coast of Africa.

“Without dissection of the whale, we can be sure that it died after the collision with the boat. Elwen said. “The impact must have been very strong. The animal is rotated, the fins are also damaged. It died very quickly.

The whale appears to have died after colliding with a boat.

Blue whales, the largest creatures on Earth, can grow up to 30 meters in length and weigh 150 tons. The whale is just over half the size of an adult blue whale.

Bridget James, a member of the NDP, said: “This is the first time I have seen a blue whale. It’s sad that the animal died due to human action.”

The blue whale is the largest creature on Earth.

Dr Tess Gridley, a British expert working in South Africa, said: “Unfortunately, in the human environment that overlaps with whales, these sad stories still happen sometimes.

Local authorities plan to bury the whale carcass. But still don’t know how.

Antarctic blue whales live about 8,000km from Africa

According to experts, blue whales tend to swim north, closer to Africa during the cold winters in the southern hemisphere.

NDP has taken samples of blue whales for further analysis in the laboratory.
