A new Marvel and DC animated crossover fan video sees Scarlet Witch meeting Eobard Thawne, a.k.a. the Reverse-Flash, in a What If…? scenario.

Reverse-Flash crosses over from the DC Universe into the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a new fan video where he takes on the Scarlet Witch. It has been more than a year since the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and the demise of Wanda Maximoff, which was the last time Elizabeth Olsen reprised the role, at least for now. Despite her sacrifice, the Scarlet Witch caused a lot of trouble throughout her multiverse adventures, including killing all of the Earth-838 Illuminati members.

Ever since her actions in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Scarlet Witch’s execution of the Illuminati characters has become one of the biggest MCU memes of all time during the Multiverse Saga, whether it be making fun of how she kills Black Bolt by erasing his mouth or the controversial death of Captain Carter. However, just as there have been memes about her showdown, there have also been various What If…? scenarios raised by fans regarding how things could have played out differently for Scarlet Witch.

Martian_Editx recently did an animated fan video where The Flash’s greatest villain, Reverse-Flash, is depicted as a member of the Illuminati. In this variation of the confrontation with the Illuminati, Scarlet Witch actually loses, as Reverse-Flash kills her by simply being faster.

Is Scarlet Witch Ever Coming Back To The MCU?

While Marvel Studios haven’t said definitively if they are done with Scarlet Witch, many are wondering if Olsen will ever come back to the MCU as Wanda, and if so how. Obviously, the MCU has various ways of bringing the actress back, whether it be as the main version of Scarlet Witch or a potential variant from the multiverse. However, as time goes by, the chances of Wanda’s theoretical return seemingly become less likely.

Given some of Elizabeth Olsen’s interviews from 2023, it sounds like MCU star may potentially be done with Marvel Studios. In a June interview, Olsen talked about Scarlet Witch’s possible future, where she claimed that after having played her for 10 years, she doesn’t necessarily feel the urge to return to the role any time soon. Obviously, there is always the chance that Olsen knows the definitive answer to that question, but is legally not allowed to say anything due to spoilers, which could either cement the idea of the character being finished with, or potentially suggest impending MCU events that are simply being kept safe under wraps.

With the ongoing Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes, Marvel Studios couldn’t reveal their Scarlet Witch plans even if they wanted to at this point. It would be disappointing if the MCU is actually done with Scarlet Witch, given that there are still more stories to tell about her. But for now, the world will have to wait and see if Scarlet Witch ever makes a comeback or not.
